Unfortunately the package sent by Amazon never made it out of the USPS package processing mill. Amazon most graciously refunded me, so even though very disappointed, it wasn't a complete disaster. Even though the tracking number provided indicated it was just a few miles away, it never made the complete journey. My one star rating really isn't appropriate but you have to enter something.
Each of the babies gives yoshi different abilities.MARIO: SprintPEACH: Hover LongerDK: Climbing vines, swinging, and a dash attackWario: Attracts coinsBowser: Shoot FireI have only got to DK so far and the babies keep getting better as you go along. It is basically the same game but with some added stuff. Yoshis Island DS is the sequal to the original Yoshis Island. If You liked the first Yoshis Island you will like this one even more. You still have the same abilities like swallowing enemies, shooting eggs, ground pounding, jumping and fluttering, and if you touch an enemy the baby falls off and you have seconds to get it back.In the first Yoshis Island baby mario was always with yoshi but now there are more including peach, DK, Wario, and Bowser. If you havent then you should definitley pick this one up.
I would have liked for something new to crop up on every single level, like the original. Collecting flowers, red coins, and star points has returned from the original. Peach can hover, Mario can dash and hit "M" blocks that are only visible to him, DK can swing across vines, Wario can attract metal with his magnet, and Bowser can breathe fire. If you get 100 coins, you get a 1-up (as always). The adventure starts out with Baby Mario and Yoshi, but then Babies Peach, DK, Wario, and Bowser join Yoshi's team, each of them having different abilities. It is a very great game.
For one thing, a few of the levels seem almost identical to one another. Here is my answer: no, but it's a great game. It seems a lot has returned from the previous game. However, something very interesting does crop up: the babies Yoshi is carrying on his back.
You can slurp enemies up with your tongue, as well. Also back are the ground pounding, stomping, jumping, and making and throwing eggs. Is the sequel as good as the wonderful SNES game, Yoshi's Island, and its GBA remake. I would still highly recommend this game.
Yoshi can also do a hover jump, as usual. The only problem is that some of the levels feel like you have to do the same thing over and over.
Nintendo really needs to put more effort into its games. Furthermore, I have not found a single ds game to be satisfactory. It is unacceptable for the name of great games such as yoshi's island to be put to shame by crappy sequels. Please stop making horrid games Nintendo.
* The graphics for this game are adorable.* It's an adventure with little action (Is that good or bad).* Control of characters is challenging.* Very clever.* Good for 4 yr olds.
