The filtration itself is pretty good. Also, when the power flow stops the annoying grinding sound it makes while trying to get back going is really annoying. Taking the beast apart and cleaning it non-stop isn't particularly pleasing. It didn't seem to matter how much water I poured into it, the priming was horrible and loud and lasts almost an hour.
This filter is great, in that it has an optional vent midway up on the intake. I have a 75 gallon tank with an emporer 400 filter. It just didnt seem to be able to keep up with the fish I had. I added this filter in, and within a couple days the tank was amazingly clean. I was skeptical at first, but after seeing this work I will support this 100%.
I've had this product for almost 1 year and it is still running. The filters are easy to replace, and so are the bio-wheels if you ever really needed to replace them. I clean it by hand once every six months. Comes with an extension extra that is not the most needed thing ever but is very helpful if you actually do need it.
I have a 55 gallon community tank with angels, pleco's, clown loaches, and cory cats. My only recommendation is to clean the intake tube with each water change. Some messy fish, but this filter carries the load. It gets pretty gunked up, very easily.
but i had to call customer service 2 days after getting the product, because it stopped working. when i asked if this would happen alot. Nor. it happened to be that particles got caught in the flow valve and it needed to be cleaned. The product works ok. i used to have two 30gal whisper filters in my tank (55 gal tank) for 2 years.now i tried something new and i have to clean it once a week. i had to wait forever and they had no answer. why did it happen only two days after getting the product.
