The only negative I can see is that it should have included one more vial since you do end up doing all the tests on the aquarium and that way you can have them all at once. It also saves a lot of money than doing the strip tests and gives you more accurate measurements. This kit is wonderful and very accurate. It would also be nice to be able to purchase replacement vials since they do break (glass). I've found it very easy to use, fast to use, and it's helped me keep my aquariums in top condition. Otherwise the cards are great for comparing colors, the booklet goes into detail that will help a new aquarium lover to keep their system in top form.
I can fill all 4 vials and do all the tests at once. It's also far and away the best priced. After looking all over, this is one of the few Master Test Kits I could find that had tests for all the important water conditions I need to check in my aquarium. I like the packaging too, it makes it simple to keep all those little bottles organized. The instructions were clear and made the kit easy to use. A great product.
The results are easy to compare to the color coded cards. I wanted something somewhat sophisticated, yet simple to use. This is a great test kit. Includes tests for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH and high PH (I'm glad they included the high PH, because mine always runs around 8 to 8.2). Takes the guesswork out of cycling the aquarium.
I was doing some research on what to expect and what supplies I needed. I do have an added tip for all you PetSmart/PetCo shopppers. Print out this page and take it in and they will price match. I came across this product in a search and after reading other product reviews I decided to splurge and get this test kit. I recently started up a freshwater tank and am learning the ropes as I go. :) GREAT DEAL. I think out of all the ones I reveiwed this is the only one that had all the 4 major tests in one case with ease of use that even a child can do (with supervision). The PetSmart (instore) price is $29.99 and after showing them the ad I saved over $13, and I didn't even have to pay for shipping.
The results are plenty quick enough and easy to read. You can get hundreds of tests for the price of 2 bottles of strips (about 24 tests). I paid $29 for this very same test kit at the LFS (local fish store). The tests are easy to perform, fun too if you do them with your kids. My kids look forward to testing because they get to use the equipment, measure the drops, and take an interest in caring for the family aquarium. For the money it is a much better value (and more accurate results) to use this test kit for hundreds of testings.Other useful products are the Python gravel cleaner and the MagFloat glass cleaner.
